Kangaroo Island SeaLink was established in 1989 when it purchased the ferry operations of Philanderer Ferries that connected the South Australian mainland to Kangaroo Island. Since then, the company has expanded into the tourism sector, offering tours on Kangaroo Island and other South Australian regions, acting as a travel wholesaler and operating retail travel businesses.
Fast forward to today, and the single ferry business has now grown into a successful enterprise operating under the name of the SeaLink Travel Group. SeaLink now owns and operates marine vessels and tourism operations in South Australia, New South Wales, Queensland, Northern Territory and Western Australia, under the well-recognised brands of "SeaLink" and "Captain Cook Cruises", servicing 10 islands and 12 destinations.
SeaLink owns and operates a fleet of 73 ferries and other maritime craft (with a further 3 under construction), carrying over 8 million passengers per year. Additionally, SeaLink operates a fleet of 30 coaches, buses and other passenger vehicles.
SeaLink is a publicly listed company and is in the top 100 companies for South Australia. SeaLink maintains its Corporate Office in Adelaide for its Australian operations. SeaLink is a passionate South Australian company proud of our roots and our businesses. It currently employs over 300 South Australians, 1100 people nationwide.
