Solver Paints has evolved from the original company WP Crowhurst . In 1920 WP Crowhurst Pty Ltd started producing Solver Paints from a factory in Gouger Street. In 1951 WP Crowhurst Pty Ltd moved to a factory at Devon Park. In 1990 Wattyl acquired Solver and moved to Churchill Rd, Kilburn. In 2010 Valspar acquired Wattyl Australia.
Under the Solver brand name Valspar operates 11 stores in SA employing 65 people selling the SA manufactured Solver paints brand. Additionally the water based Solver Paints are still manufactured and distributed from it's manufacturing site in Kilburn SA which employs 95 people and produces on average 200,000 liters of paint a week. Including our sales and technical teams we currently employ 173 South Australian residents.
